What a great week we had. A lot has happened last week and with this blog we would like to inform you about the great things that has happened. Santa Claus came early this year.
The last couple of months we have kept a keen eye on flights leaving Europe for South America. We have asked fellow travelers which prices they have paid for their trip down south and we visited sites like Skyscanner, Momondo and Vliegwinkel every week to see what the ticket prices were. After a month or so we found out that Brazil was on top of this list almost every time meaning it is the cheapest country to fly in to.
I think it has something to do with all the big events that are being organized in Brazil. The number of flights to Brazil must has grown compared to the past. Flights to Chili or Argentina cost at least several hundred euro’s more. Furthermore we discovered that if we would find a flight under 400 euro per person it would be very cheap.
Well, last week the time has come. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls… WE HAVE BOOKED OUR FLIGHT! Monday June 6th at 2.35 PM we will depart from Amsterdam and fly to Rio de Janeiro. You cannot imagine how happy we are right now and to be honest, we cannot wait anymore. In just 6 months we will embark on our trip around the world. We found a flight for €388,- per person with Condor. It is almost unimaginable that after all those years of saving and waiting we now have a departure date. Every fiber in our body wants to go and there is no doubt at all. For me this means we are making the right choices. Oh, did you guys see our countdown clock on our homepage?
Also our family was very happy for us. They reacted with responses like ‘Congratulations’ and ‘How cool!’ but almost immediately after, they asked another question ‘Have you heard from the Olympics?’ Till yesterday the answer was ‘No’ but that has changed…
We have been invited to be part of the Olympic Games in Rio the Janeiro as volunteers. How cool is that! The Olympics will take place from August 5th to 21th, 2016. With the email came the explanation that we now have to wait for our official ‘Letter of Invitation’. In this letter they will let us know which position they think we are suited best and where and when we will have to volunteer. So we need to be a little bit more patience but after 1,5 years since we signed up to the program we have gotten our confirmation. And we are pretty proud of this fact!
